Flying with a PAP Machine? Here’s What to Know Before You Go

If you’ve never flown with your PAP machine before, don’t worry—it’s easier than it sounds. A little prep goes a long way, and you’ll be through security and in your seat in no time.

What to expect at the airport
TSA considers your PAP machine a medical device, which means you’re allowed to carry it on board, and it doesn’t count against your carry-on limit. Just take it out of its case and place it in a bin when going through security. We recommend using a clear plastic bag to keep it clean.

Pro tips from our Experts:

  • Always carry your machine with you—never check it.
  • If you’ll be using it on the plane, check with the airline ahead of time.
  • Bring any cords, adapters, and a copy of your prescription if needed.
